I’m an introvert by nature, especially in a new environment and early in my career I would always receive the same feedback from several leaders that I’ve worked with – “Jenn, you are too quiet, you need to speak more”. I was stunned by this, thinking why should I speak for the sake of it?!
It occurred to me that the message behind this consistent feedback is to trust in my abilities and judgements enough to share my ideologies.
As a professional in any field, being bold is all about self-confidence and the power of self-confidence and boldness is knowing that we are resourceful. Our thinking, communication and actions proceeds from this kind of resourcefulness which enhances our confidence and brings out the boldness in us!

Being bold and confident is a skill that can be learned and practiced. It is not something that you have or don’t have, rather, it is something that can be built through repetition and practice.
Below are just a few tips to help you get started.
Balance your strengths and weaknesses
Strengths are our gifts and need to be nourished and sharpened as they are our most powerful tools to help boost our confidence to be bold. Weaknesses are our cautionary narratives, reminders that we are all vulnerable and to be humble and empathic in our words and actions.
Our strengths and weaknesses are all part of who we are and it comes with balance, balancing both strengths and weaknesses is integral to sustain continuous learning and practice.
Dress for success
Your appearance can also affect how you feel and how others perceive you. Wearing clothes that fit you well and suit your style can make you feel great and enhance your confidence and attractiveness.
As well as finding the perfect outfit, I’ve also found a perfect pair of shoes to give me a boost 😉
Be Open
Being bold and confident doesn’t necessarily mean you need to be arrogant. Own your mistakes, embrace the challenges and don’t be afraid to change your mind if your mistake leads you down a path you don’t want. You’re human! And you don’t have to get it right the first time. Always be open to opportunities to develop your skills and expand your knowledge.
Prepare
Clear your mind, create headspace for what’s important and engage with the present.
Be clear on your outcome, write them down – plan, prepare and go for it!
Keep in mind it doesn’t have to be perfect, but you need to start somewhere.

Believe in yourself. Feel the emotions of success, happiness and confidence!
