Working in a high stress environment can feel like we have no control or power to change it, and eventually we allow ourselves to become comfortable and embrace the system of chaos as the status quo. It’s easy to get lost in all the workplace madness when we are just trying to get things done and I’ve learnt over the years that the work is never done!
Therefore, we should get more intentional and change our mindset.

Here are some effective practices that has helped me shift and move from chaos to control.
Prioritise time management – stop in the moment and ask yourself… What matters most? Make a list from the most important to the least, this will help you establish realistic goals and timeframes for yourself.
Don’t forget – it’s ok to say no to things that doesn’t serve you!
Rest and reflect - taking some time out of what you are doing throughout the day can help reduce stress, manage the chaotic rush so that you can give it your best effort. Self-care and taking timeout for yourself can also help you manage your work life balance more effectively.
Don’t be afraid to slow down, take breaks because in all honesty – we all deserve to have a break.
Ask for help – focus on your strengths whilst allowing someone else to take on a task that might be better suited for them. This gives you more time in the day to do what you enjoy, take more control of your time and responsibilities and in turn gives you the energy to tackle task with greater intensity.
Me time – with all the madness in the workplace and life in general, it’s always nice to have something to look forward to at the end of the day (apart of family and friends), dedicate time to yourself to escape the chaos and time for self-care.
Self-care doesn’t need to be extravagant, it could be as simple as reading a book, go for a walk, have a hot bath, the key is to do something that makes you feel relaxed, recharged and happy!
Shifting from Chaos to Control will only be possible when you want to make it happen.
Sometimes changing your mindset or ways of working can be terrifying, but just like chaos there will always be beauty in it!
Remember – Be kind to yourself – work life control is a process that takes time!
