Below are some recommendations to help you maximise the value of the coaching experience.

Focus on the Goal – Coaching works best when you have clear goals that are based on what you really want to achieve. Firstly, it is important to consider deeply how you want your work and personal life to look like. Secondly, it is important to identify the gaps between the way things are now and how you would like them to be. It is true that many people struggle with this, but the coaching relationship can help work this through if necessary.

Understand and embrace Development – Working with an empathic and professional coach is a definite way to grow and develop. Most clients take on a coach to work on specific goals and much of their time and energy is directed towards this. However, the coaching relationship may also allow the you to discover something more about yourself. This is just a natural consequence of the coaching process and you don't need to concentrate on it, but just recognise that it is likely to occur. Accelerated personal and professional growth is the hallmark of coaching.

Increase the Willingness to Step Up – Coaching is not meant to exhaust or extend you beyond your bounds. It is important that you keep an open-mind to experiment with fresh approaches and try new beliefs. It is encouraged that you be honest with yourself, raise personal standards and set higher goals. However, you are the best judge of what is right for you! Nevertheless, the more you are willing to grow and develop, the greater will be the benefits from coaching.

Come Prepared to the Coaching Sessions – It is important that you prepare an agenda to get the most value out of each coaching session. Preparing for the agenda does not have to be time-consuming and it has a significant impact on the coaching sessions. Ask your coach for the "Coaching Session Preparation Sheet", this is optional and will assist you prepare in between sessions and takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

Take the First Step – at the end of each session, you will decide on the actions or goals you want to focus upon. It is highly recommended that you keep the commitments. The Coach will work with you to make sure that you are setting worthwhile, realistic and achievable goals and hold you accountable and encourage you to do your best.

In essence coaching is a collaborative partnership in which the Coach will work alongside you to help achieve your personal best to produce the results you want in your personal and professional lives, ultimately helping you change in the way you wish and supporting you in becoming the best you can be.
